I would let teachers check this piece of equipment out of the library. I think there are many classroom uses for a document camera. This tool would allow presenters to feed images through multimedia projectors, television sets, or computer screens. I think it would really improve the quality of a classroom presentation, or maybe an in-service presentation.

I would let teachers check this out of the library and maybe do some type of multimedia scavenger hunt around campus. For example, a science class could travel around the school property, searching for and taking photos of as many types of insects or trees or flowers that they can find. Then the teacher can load the photos onto the computer, and (with the help of the document camera) the class together can examine the photos.

I would get a camcorder for similar reasons to purchasing a digital camera. A teacher could check out the camcorder to use for a variety of reasons. The class could do a “scavenger hunt” around campus. Or, they could invite a guest speaker or have a special demonstration that could be videotaped. The teacher could also take the camcorder on fieldtrips, where she could film certain events or people. That way she could “revisit” and lead discussions at a later time, to make sure students learned what they were supposed to and retained that information.
